Howdy, folks. I'm thinking about getting an AK47 to be a project gun. It's an inexpensive rifle, shoots inexpensive ammunition, and it's as reliable as...something reliable. Show me pics and/or give me descriptions of what you folks have done to your AK47's. I'd especially like to see improved sights, like peep sights (but optics are okay too).

I dont get how you managed to make a sencond post before the latter post.
:confused:He simply waited 8 hrs 56 mins.:neener:
My opinion is gonna anger some people, but it's my opinion. I don't believe the standard AK47 to be mechanically nor ballistically accurate enough to justify different sights. The stock irons will suffice for anything in the AK's effective range.

Flame suit is now zipped up.

The only peep sights for an AK I am aware of are Mojo sights.

You are in CA, right? So that means you are going to have to get an AK with a sporter style stock as opposed to a pistol grip. I'd go with a Saiga, one importer is banned, but the other is not.

Krebs makes a peep sight for the ak, and are going to be making one for the Saiga if I remember correctly. If you want to see a ton of things you can get for the AK take a look at Krebs and Tapco ( to name just 2 )

First Samco upper and lower handguards, Tapco T6 buttstock, First Samco "ergonomic" pistol grip, First Samco Folding forward pistol grip, Bushnell Trophy Red/Green Dot scope, Surefir 6P light in First Samco rail mount, 2 E.Gremman steel mags with First Samco mag clamps, and unkown mfg. bipod bought cheap at gunshow (it was cheap, steal, and works very well though...:)). Finish compliments of Rust-O-Leum High Temp BBQ paint, matte black (cheap, dries in about 5 minutes, doesnt run, wont smoke or burn off, and is VERY durable).Dont recall who made the sling, but its nothing special....just a standard synthetic AR "tactical" type deal.

Yeah, I'm in CA, however I'm active duty out of state military. So even if my assault weapons permit falls through, I can still keep it at my parents' house and whenever I go on leave, I can monkey with it.

When it comes to folding or no, I would prefer the full stock. I like how it looks.
