Shooting rapid prone AR15, The rather large cuff on the non-firing hand of my Creemoor leather hardback bulges towards the magazine in my most stable / comfortable position. Because of this, I need to remove the rifle from my shoulder to get magazines in / out of the rifle. If I stuff some winter clothing into the side of the sleeve and zip it shut, the bulge forms on the other side of my arm, allowing the magazine to clear, but comfort suffers and I wonder about legality. I can move the elbow further out, but the position requires muscle tension to maintain if I do that. Hoping someone here can offer some pointers. Lots of questions from a new highpower shooter.

If you can get the butt stock back into same spot on your shoulder, then it's no problem. M-1 and M-14 shooters had to take the rifle out of the shoulder for years for a mag or clip change. Leaving the rifle in the shoulder is "new" with thw AR if you will and not required if it doesn't work for you.

Having said that, I don't ubderstand how your cuff would interfear with the mag. I still take the rifle out of my shoulder because old habits are hard to change. While doing the mag change I'm also get on my scope in an attempt to see if I need to change my sight adjustments. Was a lot easier with a 30.

I take the stock out of my shoulder, reload, remount and I have plenty of time and shoot that position pretty well.

Are you maintainig the mount for speed or to make sure you don't loose your position?

I have never been able to reload without removing the rifle from the shoulder.

I also do that in small bore. The really good shooters in my area keep their small bore rifles in the shoulder as they reload, but I can't.

At least you will learn how to get back into a good position.

I'm trying to picture how the cuff of the support arm would get in the way. Unless it's just the bulk of the material of the arm itself, which I do understand, as I have a similar issue.

I prefer to keep the rifle in my shoulder for prone, both rapid fire and slow fire. The trick I've found to the magazine change at 3 is I roll onto the support side a little as I drop the old mag clear. This lets it fall free of the sleeve to the mat as I scoop up the fresh mag and run it home. Sometimes I have to sweep the 2-round mag out of the way, but not often, and I've even taken the time to toss it aside to my stool once (on accident... ). You have 70-seconds down there to shoot off 10-rounds, just plan ahead so your movements are controlled and smooth and you'll have plenty of time.
