I have often heard that one shouldn't use reloaded ammo for self-defense. One could get into hot water, maybe not criminaly, but in civil court (lawsuit). Even my CCW instructor pointed this out.

I wonder, is there any truth to this? Does anyone here know of case law that supports this? Is there anyone here with a law background that could either verify this or put this to rest as a myth?

Right now, I load with factory stuff in my SD guns. I would rather use handloads, but I don't want to take any chances. Am I being prudent or paranoid?
