psl 54c customization

ok so i was thinking which can be dangerous and i would like your input which can also be dangerous. couple ideas first can you put an rpk barrel on the psl allowing it to handle heavier ball ammo, second what would you think about shortening the barrel to 16 1/4 in a com bloc socom if you will and last of all what adverse effects do you think any of the fore mentioned mods might have on accuracy and so forth.

As I understand it, the problem with heavy ball in the PSL isn't the barrel, it's the action. The heavy 54R loads will take a toll on the action and eventually break it. Much like running heavy .30'06 through a Garand. So even with a heavier barrel, you still have the same problem.

The solution is just shoot standard light ball in the PSL. There's a ton of the stuff around. Save the heavy stuff for the Mosin.

Shooting 7.62x54r out of a 16 1/2 inch barrel with a brake is not going to win you any friends at the range.

I haven't heard a range report, but I can give you my prediction: Nasty, brutish and short.

Don't think they've gotten into many people's hands yet, still fairly new.
