The "new" polymer PT-22/25 guns look like fun. I can get either delivered for $242.50 from Davidsons. Let me know what you think. Also, if you think they are worth buying, 22 or 25? Obviously 22lr ammo is WAY cheaper but is the 22 as reliable as the 25?

$242.50 gun is high priced for a Taurus. Even $175 is to high. $150,maybe. but not $242.50. $150 would include tax. And for new Taurus, you are taking chances on getting a heck of a problem gun.

Taurus is backed by a lifetime warranty. I'd not worry, get it if you want it. I think the steel ones are about 200 at Academy. I've thought about it, but I really don't have the wants for one. I doubt it'd be plinking accurate and that small caliber is definitely NOT going to be used by ME as a self defense gun, not as a primary. I carry a NAA mini revolver only as a back up, weak side, because I can. It's tiny. It's in a folding holster grip, about like carrying a medium sized pocket knife.

In an auto-pistol, .25ACP's main advantage is reliability, far more so than is .22LR. For a fun gun, though, go with .22, far more affordable to shoot.

Just my take. I own three Taurus revolvers I really do like. If I get a Taurus auto, it's likely to be a PT145. SIL has one and it's impressive as a carry.

I have an older pt22 and love it as a fun little gun. With Taurus' lifetime warranty I wouldn't worry either. What's nice with the warranty is it is transferrable, so mine was bought second hand but I have the warranty if I need it. I haven't needed it though. It's a bit temperamental about ammo, but I've stuck with one brand mostly and haven't had any real problems with it now that i found what mine likes. Jams once in a while but usually if I'm shooting a lot and reloading, it doesn't like to get dirty.

I prefer the original Beretta version with the single action capability. I have owned both 22lr and 25acp versions of the Beretta, and they are surprisingly accurate in single action...like easy hits on pop cans at 25yds accurate.
