ptx Powder Measure Stop?

I spliced one of these into my uniflow setup on my Pro2000. I think it works pretty good and solves the flex problem on the uniflow. That is the flex and twisting as the measure hits the stops and starts to expand the case. Now with the PTX installed the uniflow goes up now and it just hits the stops and does not twist as the case starts to expand.

Any one else working with one of these? Any tips in the use?

I use regular expanders in station #2 and just drop powder in station #3.

If you do that you can adjust the funnel to just channel powder and that should eliminate the flex.

Just a thought.

I have one with my Hornady LnL press. I didn't know how to use it at first, but found the right adjustment by trial and error. I haven't touched it since, but I only load 9mm, so I have no need to fiddle with it. Experiment with it with your powder measure empty until you have the belling the way you want.

GJ you sound like you are using it the way I do. I set it up once and have not adjusted it since. When you hit the top of the stoke, the measure is supported by two points instead of one like normal.

Walkalong, I used to do it that way, but I got nervous about double charges so I put in a lock out die on 3, seat on 4 and crimp on five. This way I have a bit of security and ease of adjustments. The downside is you have to prime, dispense and flare on 2.

I am using an LNL, and the seating goes on right in front where I can see the charges, so that is my check. I have not seen a Pro 2000 in person, but it looks like the seating is going on close to the rear. Station 3 or 4.

Hello Peter, did the Hornady PTX powder measure stop fit on the RCBS? I have the case activated linkage kit and want to get the stop for my Uniflow as well.

I use the powder stop on my LNL AP and it really makes final adjustment of the PTX expander easy.

I use one in all pistol rounds on my LNL. With out you will eventually fail the stationary arm tying the upper and lower brackets together. One thing I learned was to set it and don't ever adj it again. Adj the base/die body to control the depth. If you go this way you will have a quick change when you change caliber, if you have separate powder die bases for each caliber.

Question to me. No it did not fit on the RCBS linkage. The pins are too short so I got a hornady linkage and just put it on my Uniflow. It works perfectly. I should take some pictures of it but basically I have spliced a hornady lower into a uniflow upper.

Yes that works. But for those who want it to work with RCBS Parts....there is a way, if you have an ACE Hardware or equivalent nearby:

I bought 2 10-32 by 1/2" long threaded spacers and beveled one end on my grinder to fit flat against the RCBS bracket. Also required is 1/2" long 10-32 set screws, and shorter hex head screws for the Hornady PTX stop.



Sorry for the blurry picture, but as you can see below the spacer plus the set screw screws nicely extend the RCBS caps to allow the Hornady part to fit behind the stock RCBS spring.

Nicely done. That is what I should have done but it was easier for me just to order the hornady setup and make it work that way.
