If anyone happens to be in the Birmingham, AL area and gets the itchy trigger finger, there is a very nice range with a public range and a daily (non-member) fee: www.foprangeinc.com
I recently stumbled onto it, and it's getting me back into shooting (the previous range was growing trailers on the ridgelines around the range, which made me very nervous, so I have hardly shot at all over the past few years). This range is constantly supervised, with a range store, air-conditioned rest area, and a real restroom.
The public range has 10 yd plates, 25 yd stands, and 100 yd rifle lanes.
Before I forget: Non-member range fees--one day; $10, weekday
$15, weekend
$35, 5-day pass
$60, 10 day pass
