Pulled 223 tracer bullets

What is deal with these? I've seen them for under $30 per thousand and was wndering if they can be used for plinking rounds?
 
Tracers can be fun if you're not going to set anything on fire (most ranges won't allow them, but you might get lucky).

They don't do much for accuracy, though - the bullet lightens as the tracer-compound burns, so it becomes more erratic as the distance increases.
 
Also keep in mind that they may not start to visibly glow until at least 100 yards out.

Living in the middle of the woods, I can't shoot them here. Folks out in the desert have a ball with them though.
 
They are "fun once"... I finally got rid of all the delinked 5.56 and 7.62 I had. Too expensive to throw away, too cheap to shoot.
