Awhile back I got a (free) box of 500+ rounds of 9mm Largo ammo. The stuff is pretty old an crusty & a guy who'd bought the stuff brought it back to my buddy claiming numerous misfires. Since I'll take just about anything for free...it wound-up under the reloading bench.

I finally had an idea --pull the bullets & load 'em up in 9mm Para & .38 Super brass. I'm trying to figure out the bullet weight. I know 124-127gr is most common for Largo, but my scale only goes up to 110gr. The bullets are all copper or brass(?) jacketed FMJ or round-nose --the copper jacketed look like modern 9mm FMJ. The brass jacketed look like the previous generation Winchester .38 Super white-box -really round nose with not much taper. All were Berdan primed. The fifty or so I pulled today, the brass, regardless of bullet type, is all stamped "F N T" and "1950".

Any ideas? To me the stuff looks a lot like the Santa Barbara ammo I've seen for sale, but who knows.

Did a little more research & maybe turned up some info on www.9mmlargo.com. There was ammo made in that date range by "Fabrica Nacional de Toledo". Brass jacketed (although most of mine is copper but that spec was for 1949) 127.5gr round nose. Guess I'll use load data for 130gr & see how they fly.

Do you have a pistol that shoots Largo ammo?
The post office has scales, just drop the bullet on the scale. ;)

You might look into selling it on gunbroker.
