Suppose you want to change a load in .44 mag for instance (which I do). If you pull the bullet, does the roll crimp come out, or do you have to resize the case (which is primed). I've changed loads in rifle cartridges, but not pistol. Appreciate the second-hand experience. Thanks...

I've done this before, and the only thing I did was run it through the expander die again to bell the case mouth.

Yep.

The crimp does tend to make the bullet not the size you want it anymore on the way out- back into the melting pot it goes- if a cast bullet.

On a plated bullet, you may or may not have damaged the plating.

On a jacketed bullet, rock "n roll !

I can relate, and also have done this a number of times. I bell the mouth, and then go about the usual reloading routine. If your using jacketed bullets, all is good to go, other wise you'll have to inspect the bullets for size, and, or, plating damage.
