My dad was describing a bb gun to me.... he said it was like a Red Ryder, but with a shotgun style pump action instead of a lever. Low powered, held many BBs in a springloaded tube so you could use it at any angle. Only one pump per BB, and a crossbar safety.

Anyone know what would be a similar product?

I also posted this in Non Firearm Weapons.

Well since I'm probably older than your Dad, I'll respond. I remember that exact BB gun when I was a kid and I think it was a daisy, in fact I'm sure it was. My Dad also had a much earlier model from when he was a kid and he's now almost 90, but don't remember who made it and it's long gone now.

You're only 6 months older, so there! He was born in December of 43.

Anyway, I thought it was a Daisy too, but they apparently don't make that model anymore.

Does anyone know where I'd be able to pick up a good knock-off of it?

Model 25, that's what it is.

Okay, but I was hoping for a NIB version, doesn't have to be exact.

Are BB guns like that even made anymore?

I already have the Red Ryder, I'm just trying to "complete" my collection if you will.

Here is mine, and no it is not for sale:

I did some research and found a Marksman pump repeater with a 20 shot tube. Does anyone know if it's a decent imitator?

HooBoy!
That sent me on a 50 year trip back.:D

I had one when I was about 14. We used to ride our bikes out to the Wash north of Redlands and have "BBgun wars" Great fun until we ambushed another bunch of kids that had .22s...:what: Found out real early what "outgunned" meant...

Anyhow, the pump gun was reputed to be "more powerful" than the lever guns, and I think it was, but it was the difference between seeing the BB in flight, and not seeing it.

Damn, that was a simpler time. Thanks for stirring up that memory...:D

i still have mine. screw out end of barrel, spring loaded feed; holds 50 bb's.

That new Marksman model is a toy in every sense of the word. It shoots so slowly that you can actually see the bb leave the barrel. :uhoh:

Grandparents gave my youngest one of those about 4 or 5 years ago.........boy was it weak, it wouldn't even penetrate a hanging plastic coke bottle at point blank range. :(

I took a shot at a deer decoy with it from about 50 yds away once...................with about 2ft of elevation added to make the shot - I hit it 1st time......................but it was about a 5 second delay from firing to impact.

Ugh. Well, I guess I won't be getting a pump BB gun then. Thanks for that warning, I was ready to buy the Marksman.

I am surprised they still don't make that.
I had one when I was a kid. It is still sitting in my dad's basement.
I must have shot a hundred thousand BBs through it. I probably shot it every day for about five years. That would have been in the 1970s.

Mine is sitting in the closet.
Dad kept it all of these years and was still using it. He would sit in his chair out on the porch, had a large glass of iced tea in the evenings and shoot sparrows in the back yard. He did this for over 35 years every evening weather permitting. As a matter of fact he did it right up to within a month of his death.
Thanks for bring up some of my most cherished memories of him!!
