Was wondering what recommendations for a carry holster you may have. Something OWB that might be a little easier on the finish...............Can't wait to get it out to shoot!!!

Don't know about OWB, but...

If you have a lady in your life, look out. My ex-girlfriend and my wife, along with my sister, and almost every woman who has fired it has tries to steal it from me. I don't know what it is a bout that gun, but the ladies like it, and its a little embarassing begging you wife "please honey, can I shoot MY gun now" at the range.

I just got a 229 with the rail and DAK. Holsters are plentiful for 229s without the rail. They're harder to come by, without waiting, for a rail gun, and even harder to come by for the DAK if you need a rentention strap because the DAK is different than the regular. I have a Blade Tech OWB for the 229R that was in stock, and I don't think it's going to be easy on the finish.

knoxx45, your problem is easy to solve. Every time you get a girlfriend, wife or sister, get them their own Sig.

So you're saying that I oughta get one of my own, to get my girlfriend into shooting eh? I mean, she wants to learn, but if she has a favorite gun all the better.

The one I bought is without the rail. I know the rails are popular (and practical) but 1) I got a better deal on this because it didn't have a rail and 2) I prefer the slimmer look of it without the rail for carry. ------ I do have an XD 40 for home protection with a light etc. ------- I just showed the SIG to my wife, oh my goodness knoxx45, you are right!! Now I may have to get two!!

I carry my 229 (no rail) in an open top Wild Bill's belt slide holster. It's a great fit and holds tight to the body. I also have a Galco FLETCH which I used to carry it in when I carried it into the woods. The Galco has a retention strap and is also a great fit and carry.

DeSantis rig for SIGarms P-229s

I saw a nice holster in the Desantis catalog. It's issued to the US Secret Service(USSS) and other federal LEOs. It's a belt/high ride design with a slot in the trigger guard to use for security locks/handcuffs. I'm not sure about the quality of the leather Desantis uses but it's worth a look, ;) .

Kramer, Safariland, Milt Sparks, and Galco make great carry rigs for SIG P-229s too.

Check www.blackhawk.com for secure holsters/gear also.

Nope. The 228 is lighter and has a different frame.

Actually, unless you're talking ST or R versions, the 228/229 share grips and in 9mm they share mags. The real difference is the SLIDE, the 228 have a stamped steel slide w/ pinned breechblock and the 229 having a one-piece stainless steel slide.
