Made in 1998, according to SACS.

It needs all new springs (I think) and replacement Trijicon lamps.

Came with the factory box, no owner's manual, and two non-factory mags. which I left with the dealer.

$700.

Dang, good deal. Enjoy it, I love mine.

Is the front strap checkering as severe as it is in more recent models? It usually elicits a mild swear from people who pick it up for the first time.

I've got say, No, not at all. And that surprised me.

I had a custom Colt many years ago with 30LPI checkering -- that's what this reminds me of. Not sharp at all, just a nice, even feel.

I did look at a NIB stainless TRP -- that has sharp checkering. This used one does not.

I will say there is more play in this old slide than I expected, but the gun functions well. The new stainless TRP was really tight with a great trigger... maybe for Christmas?? :)

I thoroughly cleaned this used TRP when I brought it home, including spraying the trigger and hammer/sear area with Hornady One Shot. I just did 10 consecutive trigger pulls with my Lyman digital gauge and got an average of 5 lbs. 2 ozs.

Today I ordered an EGW "carry bevel angle bore" bushing and recoil plug that is being cut to my barrel dimensions -- should be here middle of next week.

I also have a Wolff spring kit and a Springfield Armory factory ejector and firing pin w/HD spring coming from Midway on Monday.

The gun functioned fine with my limited shooting last night -- I shot 65 rounds of hardball and Remington Golden Saber last night.

Next up: sending the gun off to Trijicon to have the nightsight lamps replaced for about $18 each.
