These gun shows are dangerous!

Went to the Chantilly show Friday and Saturday. I had considered a Kimber, but was a little concerned about the series II based on the comments on this board.

Almost bought a Springfield 1911 Army, but it was sold when I circled the tables and returned 45 minutes later (lesson: if you see something you want, you better get it....).

Saw a Dan Wesson that was comfortable in the hand, but kept looking. Came across a Colt 1911. Mark IV/Series '70.

Not sure if any good. But sure pretty in nickel.... I like "pretty" guns.

(Louis Awerbuck said my nickel Glock looked like a "pimp" gun....)

Congratulations on your first 1911! Be advised they can be habit forming. The only 1911's I own are Colts, so you can say I'm pretty partial to them. There's quite a variety of grips available from the utilitarian to the flashy stuff, if you decide to personalize yours. Me, I'm just a checkered walnut fan myself. Good shootin>:D

Good choice on the 70 series and do not be afraid of Kimber ,its good stuff
go shoot one and check them out for yourself (Love Mine and I have owned alot of diff 1911's)). This is a great place to get opinions and on some worn out topics it just goes back and forth. For every bad thing said about the top brand name guns someone has a kind word to follow.
Colt 70 series is good choice for the first one , now go get another !!!

I really enjoyed the show.
Spent 4 hours there Friday, and then had BBQ at Willards next door.

Had leftover bbq for breakfast, and headed back over around 11 Sat. Walked through the whole place again, helped some stranger find the folks selling the pelican cases, bought ammo, primers, a new 1911 (as mentioned), a nice MADE IN THE USA Bagmaster, 150 rds of ammo, etc...

Could have easily spent Sunday there, but then I would have been more broke....

Good show, in my opinion, if you have it in your head that you will buy something....
