yeah that is the first thing i would do too. i would try different magazine. the chip mccormick mags are great.
 
I've had a similar problem and the offending part was the slide stop.

The part of the slide stop that would engage the magazine follower on an empty magazine was not properly radiused and occasional the tip of a bullet would catch on it and the slide stop would engage.

Check the inside of the slide stop and see if you have rub marks from bullet jackets on it.

Or can also check this by removing the slide, reinserting the slide stop, and inserting a loaded magazine into the frame. Check the clearance between the slide stop and the bullets, I like to have between 2-3 sheets of notebook paper clearance between my carry ammo and slide stop.

Given in no particular order, you can try lightly stoning the offending spot on the slide stop (a very little bit at a time), different magazines, a different slide stop, different ammunition or realize that you pistol is a worthless piece of junk and you should just give it to me.
