IS IT POSSIBLE TO PURCHASE HANDGUNS AT A GUNSHOW IF UNDER 21 BUT OVER 18? IT DOESNT MAKE ANY SENSE WHY NOT. ITS NOT LIKE SOMEONE IS APPLYING FOR A CONCEALED CARRY PERMIT. THIS IS IN WASHINGTON AT http://www.washingtonarmscollectors.org/, WHICH IS A PLACE THAT SAYS:

FULL MEMBERSHIP: Open to all persons 21 years of age who meet the conditions set forth on the application. $35.00 per year.

DOES THIS MEAN THE BLACK POWDER GUYS ONLY LET YOU IN AND BUY STUFF IF YOU ARE 21 OR YOU ONLY HAVE TO BE BE 21 TO BE A MEMEBER OF THEIR SPECIAL BLACK POWDER GUYS CLUB?

THANX GUYS AND LADIES..

Ok calm down first and lets be more friendly(that comming from me?)
I guess you can get a cap and ball revolver however I do not know of any place you can buy a pistol under 21 yrs old so a ccw is not useful to you.
But again yes you need to be/have to be 21 sorry

Yeah Tactical, I Changed It To Black Powder Guys For Black Powder Guys Like You Bro.

I sense the opportunity for a joke here, but I think I'll pass on the magnificent pick that Bazooka set up for me.

Handgun purchase when under 21 and over 18 at a gunshow, it's possible as long as you find a dealer who is willing to go to prision to sell YOU a handgun. Anything is possible. :) This is one of the many duties of Daddy's.

To return to the main question.

It depends on the laws in the particular state where you live (in this case Washington). Under federal law an individual under the age of 21 cannot buy a handgun from a licensed dealer. They also cannot buy a handgun across state lines. However in some states (Arizona being one) an 18 year-old can legally buy a handgun from an individual (not a dealer) if both are Arizona residents - and this would hold true at a gunshow. The 18 year-old can also open carry, but not obtain a concealed weapons license until they are 21. Open carry by individuals age 18 to 21 is not unusual, especially in rural areas. Also many fathers present a handgun to a son (and sometimes daughter) on their 18th birthday.

So check the laws in the state, county and city where you live.

GEE WHIZ there Walter W, it looks like you will have to endure the stress and strain of living until you are 21, just like the rest of us did. No instant gratification.

I don't shoot black powder, but can you buy a BP pistol if you are only 18??

I have known persons under 18 that have had CCW permits due to special circumstances, but were issued by the Sheriff, not the state, for non-firearm weapons.
This particular youth in mind carried a fixed blade knife in a leg holster (in the early 80's) because of a kidnapping threat of some sort (the details escape my memory).

Surprised no one has mentioned it yet...all caps is considered yelling on internet boards...FYI

I bought my first cap & ball BP revolver when I was 16 or so, but laws may have changed since then.

If this kid hates black powder shooters like that, I'd hate to see what he thinks of gay people.

Wow. Just wow.

DOES THIS MEAN THE FAGS ONLY LET YOU IN AND BUY STUFF IF YOU ARE 21 OR YOU ONLY HAVE TO BE BE 21 TO BE A MEMEBER OF THEIR SPECIAL FAG CLUB?

And you are asking for help? (Rhetorical question) Calling any member of this board a derogatory term while asking for advice from the same is a good way to not get any advice (well good advice anyway).

A. I can't believe you haven't been banned yet.

B. Don't backpedal with a backhanded comment in the edit box.

C. I recommend you apologize to all the members of this board. Do you refer too all different categories of shooters in a derogatory manner? Or just blackpowder shooters? (More rhetorical questions - I would just apologize)

Walter. The tone of your original post illustrates the reasoning behind the 21 to buy law. I hope it's a long wait for you. YOU GIVE ADULTS LIKE THE REST OF US A BAD NAME.

To anwser your question, it depends on the state in which you live and I'm assuming that you aren't a drug addict, felon, etc. Check you local laws. In many states you may purchase a handgun from an individual (vs a FFL dealer) as long as you are a resident of that state, ID etc. I would not do it at a gunshow however as there are lots of law enforcement there. In many shows, non-dealers set up tables and sell their own firearms. Depending on the regs in your state, it may be possible to purchase from them, but many want to make sure you are 21 regardless. It is their choice.

You'll just have to grow up like everyone else. I'd suggest that you learn some manners and proper social skills in the meantime.

P.S. You're on the wrong gun forum.

This might not be the best of responses.....but man, grow up. If you expect to be respected by others, you have to learn to respect them. If you have derogatory names to call people before getting opinions, you're on the wrong forum.

And your OP is two separate issues. One is the "18v21" (in which case, though I'm under 21, this is a perfect illustration of why the age requirement is what it is), another is that particular club's membership requirements. Abide by their requirements to become a member, and federal law in pertinence to your other issue. As to your social issues.....I dunno where you need to turn.

It is exactly the same in NM except the age is 19.

Did you really say "black powder fags?"

Is that what they call the little bundles of powder you put down a muzzle loader before you put the musket ball in? They do kind of look like sticks. I thought they were called charges. I don't know squat about black powder, other than it makes my hands dirty.

EDIT: nevermind... just read the OP  Dear God, man, what decade do you live in, the 1970s? You obviously reserve the right to your own opinion on people in the gay community, but you realize that there are many people on this board who are gay, don't you? Maybe the person who sells you your next handgun will be a member of the Pink Pistols... food for thought.
