I am checking out a pistol for a friend as a favor...

Colt 1911 45 got some wierd looking bling bling grips that look like kluge.

On the slide: Colt's PT.F.A Mfg Co.

Colts Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Company...got that. :)

Now here is where it gets kinda hazy for me...same side of the slide, has a list of patents....Aug. 1897, Sept 1902, Dec. 1905, Feb 1911 :)) ) and August 1913....

On the frame....Serial number lists out as No.92xxx....did a quick search on the net and found one site saying that this puppy is vintage 1914-1915...allegedly...not sure unless someone backs that story here...

Overall, gun is about 75% and could easily make it to 85-90% with a swap to the original style grips...and the sight is gone...need to get another dove-tail rear for it.

So...what would the average value be to Joe Shooter?

Thanks!
D

Sounds like a true 1911 and not a 1911A1. Also sounds like a military model so it could have considerable value as a collector.
