Took my old Ruger 10/22 carbine apart yesterday for a clean and lube. It hasn't been fired for a little over a year. Ran several wet patches (shooters choice bore solvent) down the bore. They came out clean but I ran a wet bore brush (New) thru it anyway, then another wet patch. It came out BLUE:confused: I had to run several more wet patches thru before they came out clean. Anyone have an idea as to what caused this? It was cleaned and oiled prior to the storage and kept in a canvas field case with a moisture pack in it. I can only think that the new brush had some type of coating on it that the solvent took off.
Is this harmful and do I need to replace the new bottle of solvent. Anyone know for sure where the blue stuff came from? I have never seen this before. Thanks!

You used a copper brush with a copper solvent. The blue was copper residue. For future reference you don't need to clean the bore on a .22
