i think they were made in illinois,in the 80s had a cast reciever. i had a friend who found one in an attic of a store,of all places.i think they were on the lower end of the totem pole as far as ar's go. it shot well, but sometimes the bullets hit the paper sideways, not sure why.also known as the pwa commando...

If I recall correctly Pac West Arms only sold receivers and parts. They would also do contract runs of particular serial numbers. A friend of mine had a run of USMC with EGA and USMC in the serial and another run of Special Forces crested w/ SF in the serial number. Ultimately, they landed in a bit of worry for some of their numbering practices (among others - 4 digits as they initially did not accept that USMC or SF represented alpha-numeric). I have one of the SF crested ones and it always mounts up and receives mil-spec parts quite well. I believe as stated above though that these are in fact not forgings though the particular method of casting, I do not know.

Just a heads up too, in general, it's a good idea to keep whole serial numbers to yourself.
