so tell me about the rotating barrel. what is the purpose of this, anything special? :uhoh:

I'd assume its like any other locked barrel recoil system out there...but instead of moving up into the locking position it rotates into the locking position.

In a recent puff piece on the PX4 in the American Rifleman, I thought it very odd when they mentioned this pistols wanting to torque away from the hand when firing with one hand.

Must have been noticeable to make it past the editor and advertising department.

Nothing special. The Beretta Cougars had the same thing. Locking block appears to be different from the Cougars, though. IIRC, Colt's All-American 2000 had, at least, a similar type of rotating barrel system. Very likely the system will change the character of the recoil noticably but I doubt it would be a significant reduction or increase.

The rotation of the barrel absorbs some of the energy and reduces felt recoil. I had a Cougar 8045 and now a PX4 and both are accurate and soft shooting. The Mauser M2 also uses the rotational barrel.
