I just picked up a .36 cal 1851 from Cabelas and I now have the perfect excuse to try making my own black powder like I've wanted to for so long. Until I get it made, however, I don't have any suitable powder on hand. I have some Swiss 1.5 but that stuff's like gold considering I have to order it. I also have some Pyrodex RS sitting around. Has anyone ever tried RS in this small of a gun? I'm guessing the results won't be spectacular, but I figure as long as it goes bang it would be suitable for plinking. I really want real black, so I hate to go buy a pound of Pyrodex P.

I've shot Pyro RS in my percussions. Shoots fine, but there is a noticeable time lapse 'twixt pop and boom.
