hi,

wanted to ask, if what I have on the fist picture is a crack.
how serious it is (in other words, should I worry about it)

also what type of barrel replacement would be available for this pistol (that is what should I search/look for)

and.. I just wonder why would it happen -- were the loads
too hot, or the spring too weak, or metallurgy was bad (it was bought used off gunbroker)

I know that it is a mix between S&W 59 and Browning Hi-Power... But I am not sure if the barrel from either would work here (and I do not have anything else to check against).

Thanks in advance

yes, I also just looked at the pictures
for the HP barrels -- and they are different.

I cannot find the pics of SW 59 barrels -- may be they
are similar.

I also found that on e-gunparts.com there are parts
for FEG P9R under the name of Kassnar MBK

http://www.e-gunparts.com/productschem.asp?chrMasterModel=1600zMBK&idDept=133
But as my luck has it... part number 42 is not even listed
(barrel).

But I am thinking that may be the crack is nothing
to worry about? Do other people with P9R have any marks
at the same spot?

That lug is going to break completely off the barrel if you continue to use it; there's likely a bright spot with a divot on the left side of your unlocking cam in the frame.

If that really is a crack, it may be in part due to uneven bearing on the lugs, so that lug takes all the strain. So when/if you find a new barrel, make sure it is fitted so both lugs bear.

it broke the first try out

I took it to the range today.
loaded the clip with 5 or 6 rounds. Shot.
On the last round the slide locked open (as it supposed).
I took magazine out, and heard something hitting the
floor. Looked down and saw a piece of my barrel there...

I did not see any white spots around that area,
as some one had suggested.

Attaching the picture of how this looks now
(just for curious info). I also placed the broken-off
piece on the edge of the slide -- just for complete picture.

I am wondering if the seller knew that this would happen..
It came in barely used...
I did see some slide wear and little particles of burned powerder in the barrel. So the gun had been
shot before. But just a little.

Anyways, if anyone can suggest where to get
a good barrel for p9r (keeping in mind that the whole
gun was less then 230$ ). I would greaty apprecia the info

(by the way the couple of rounds it did fire-- it was
very solid feel and all shot whent right where I wanted them to)

Hi, the parts for that auction are for FEGs with HiPower design barrels
(single action)

here is the current status of my issue (info for the curious)

I emailed with the current importer of FEGs
http://www.ssmedwi.com/

They do not have barrels for the older Model of FEG P9R
(the one that I have) -- those were imported by CAI
and before that under the name of Kassnar MBR 9HP

This model of FEG P9R I have does NOT have a compatible barrel
with the new model of Feg P9R (the new FEG P9R uses
the the same barrel as Browning HiPower, FEG P9M and FEG PJK-9HP)

The have contacted FEG march this year (about 5 months ago)
about getting some barrels for older model of P9R -- FEG
did not reply to them yet whether they will do that (but apparently
if they will, it will onyl happen by the endof this year -- so I have
to check back their web site in December).

I also emailed FEG middle of last week -- but no reply.

So I am still looking for a barrel for the P9R -- if someone has any suggestions
I would really appreciate.

____________

Ok, sorry to ressurect my own thread.
But I need help.

http://www.ssmedwi.com/ people told me to contact them by the end of the year (to see if they will get the older style P9R barrels from FEG).
I contacted them, but they replied that they only have
the new style P9R barrels (which I already knew).
So no help from that end.

I sent an email to FEG before... they did not reply either.

I emailed to egunparts and few other places.
No luck.

So, my question is -- can I for 90-150 bucks
get this barrel made/fixed? - from someone?

any suggestion would be greately appreciated,
thank you

ACORN Try CALLING Gunpartscorp. WWW.gunpartscorp.com. They say they have quantities of parts that are too small to list.

just wanted to follow up -- I have done the above. Took a couple of months.

Unfortunately no luck -- they actually sent me the barrel for the Kassnar -- but it turned out that Kassnar MBR (Kassnar is an importer) has Hi-Power barrel (I guess Kassnar used to import FEGs Hi-power clones, than bought by what's today Charles Dali).

But anyways - cannot get it anywhere. Contacted also EFK Dragon barrels
sent them pictures. Because they make hi-power barrels -- and the P9R barrel is just like the hi-power barrel in dimentions but totally different
locking profile. I was hoping they could make something out of this -- but
unfortunately they cannot.

So totally out of luck sofar on this.

Ok -- Success.
I contacted via THR's IM president of Charles Daly ( I was hoping that since they deal with FEG sometimes, they may have at least contacts there). He immediately replied and asked to call his gunsmith.

Called the gunsmith -- he said yes Michael talked to me this morning and I looked and we have one barrel like this.

So two days later I have the barrel that I was looking for 8 month.

Very happy now -- and even though I was not Charles Daly customer -- they helped me with a gun that is 14 years old.

If you have that kind of luck all the time, buy a lottery ticket, quick!

Jim

Yes, especially after going shooting with a barrel you already knew had a crack in it!

Mercy!

rcmodel

now the results

a) first file -- rapid fire
b) second - rapid fire double taps
c) third - slow fire
