1. What is a good club to join for the CMP? There aren't any good clubs listed under my state. I'm wanting the cheapest membership dues as well.

2. Do I have to wait for the club to send me a membership card before I buy from CMP. Does any club have an electronic card? IE: is there any way to spped up the process and not wait for a card to come in the mail?

Hi there. I guess buy the "list" you mean that you looked on the CMP site. Did you expand the list to be sure you saw the entire list for your state?

http://www.odcmp.com/Clubs.htm

Yes, you need to provide proof of membership before you can order. If you are buying a firearm (maybe ammo, not sure), you will also have to prove you have actively been shooting/participating if you are under 60 years old. That proof is a card or other validation, but I would call call CMP to get up to date information.

You can join RWVA via internet or mail http://www.rwva.org

If you shoot at an Appleseed Shoot, that meets the marksmanship/shooting requirement.

If you already have met the shooting requirement, in other ways, you an still join RWVA to meet the club requirement. The fee is $20.

While you are at the above site, you can see what Appleseeds may be near you, if interested.

Good luck

I have a CCW that will qualify for the Firearms related Activity.

From their form, it looks like law enforcement qualifies for the "club" requirement. Is this true. I can't get them to answer the phone. If being in law enforcement meets the requirement, I'd rather save my $20.

Their form reads:

2. Membership in CMP Affiliated Organization.
.....................
.............
- Congressionally chartered veterans' org....
- U.S. Military services...
- Law enforcement departments and agencies and Law Enforcement Organizations and association.

So, I read this to mean that I do not need to belong to a club or organization if I am in a "law enforcement department or agency." Again, I can't reach anyone at CMP.

Edited to add UPDATE:
I recieved this email from CMP.

Mr. Poll, A recent change to our policy allows us to accept Law Enforcement employmentas satisfying all four of our eligibility requirements: age, citizenship, firearms experience, and membership in a CMP affiliated organization. Youneed only send in a copy of your ID to meet all our requirements. Thank you for the inquiry! CMP Customer Service
