Is this a movie based on true events? I know this is a remake of the spanish horror movie [REC]. Seems like a great movie for us THRrs who are always on the edge of any SHTF like this movie.

Judging by the previews, it is not based on reality. They only show snippets, but the "infected" people look to be turned into some subhuman creature, similar to "I Am Legend".

Looks like a very localized version of 28 days later, with the realm of infection contained inside a building.

If the plot is as follows

it could be based on people getting trapped at a college campus Krystal's at 3 a.m. That's when you discover the undead are real.
