Looking for inexpensive, but reasonably reliable, AK47 for range work. Are the $350-$450 Romanian ones I see on various auction sites any good? If not, can you recommend a specific dealer and product please??

Actually I wouldn't be surprised if you see the prices on those Romanian AKs go down now that the ban has expired. New versions will most likely be coming out without all the restrictions that were in place previously.

I have a WASR-10 that is a good rifle. Canted gas tubes and canted sight blocks are common on these rifles, so look carefully to be sure you get a good one. As long as you keep in mind that the AK is not a match rifle you should be pleased. They are utterly reliable; mags, ammo and parts are both cheap and plentiful; recoil is low; and accuracy is usually between 2 to 4 MOA at 100 yards.

If you are not familiar with the AK series of rifles, the butt will seem a little short but once you get used to it it's no big deal.

Theeeere great!!!:D
Personally, I think they are the best deal going on what the liberals call 'assault' weapons. Get the SAW pistol grip (TAPCO), makes itmuch handier. Four 20rnd mags and a leather pouch with varoius tools and oil bottles goes for 19.99 right now. Got 30 rnders for 8-9$. All reliable.
