I've been threatening to get one of these for ages, but they now seem to be almost impossible to find in the SS/synthetic version, even on-line, so I'm assuming it's been discontiued. I'm wondering if anyone knows why. It's most likely that it wasn't a big seller, though it could be that the stock was somehow sub-par, so i thought i'd ask the matrix first, as i've located a couple at a gunstore a couple counties drive from here. I almost got a SS/wood version yesterday, but am holding out for the black synthetc unless recommended otherwise. Thanks......M.

If you want it, don't just settle for something less. Remember that synthetic will be more resistent to harsh weather if that might happen. I just looked at marlin's site and they have a ss model 60 with a carbon fiber LOOKING stock. It says it's just the high tech look of a carbon fiber stock. Other than that, they didn't have a stainless with just a regular black synthetic, but to me, the cf looks pretty cool. You can buy them direct from gallery of guns, but i would look at buds or some other place for better prices.

Edit: Just looked, and buds has the carbon fiber ss version for $243 new.

Thanks T-ray, i've seen the faux-carbon stock around, but it's the regular synthetic one i'm after. I found it for $209.:D

sounds good, and sounds like a fair price to me, but i'm not really all that familiar with marlin prices. Is it the tube-fed or does it have a separate mag?

If you found it for 209 - that's a good price. That's what I paid for mine a few years ago. I have since switched the stock to the nifty gray laminate one Marlin is selling. Looks sharp.

I'd skip it and get the standard 60SB. Note that the stock, while it isn't stained in two-tone, is laminate. My 60 with that stock is very accurate, and the stock is durable.

I have the 60SSK with the synthetic black stock. I just cleaned it up after a few years of just basic cleaning and took it to the range. I put about 200 down range and my g/f put at least 100 down range. It never jammed or had any miss fires. I was tearing up the targets and so was the g/f.(it was her first time with a rifle and she is hooked)

I just picked up a SPEE-D-Loader. It had good reviews and it seems like it will work well. I hope to do it all again sunday.
