I just traded for a Ruger 45LC Blackhawk Bisley and although it shoots great I have a question about the trigger and hope someone on here and help me.

When the hammer is down and you go to cock it there is a small hang in it like the trigger or hammer is catching on something. If you pull the trigger back about 1/16 -3/32 inch there is small click and the hammer will cock smooth. Also with the hammer down the rear of the trigger sticks down out of the frame about 1/32 or so, enough to see where the corner is.

I have looked at pictures of them online and for the most part you can't see the rear of the trigger on them. Is this something that might get better after shooting it a while or do I need to readjust something?

Any ideas are appreciated. I'll try to et some pictures and post them if needed.

Make sure the base pin is fully inserted in the frame.

A spring loaded pin inside the base pin pushes the transfer bar back to clear the firing pin.

If it isn't fully seated, there will be a "catch" when you cock the hammer.

What rc said. This has been the case with my Ruger single actions (new models). You're going to love the Bisley.

Also check the base pin spring. It needs to be fairly firm, enough to push the tip of the pin against the transfer bar. If the tip doesnt protrude out of the base pin, it won't contact the transfer bar. The result is a 'hitch' or even a lockup if you cock the hammer with the barrel pointed down.

Don't ask me how I know this...
