Question about a gun sale

Hello I have a C&R license and I am wanting to sell my M44 mosin nagant to a buddy of mine who does not have a C&R. Does he need to have transfered to his name by an FFL? or can I just sell it to him and just sign it off in my notebook?

Under federal law, you can sell it to him if he resides in the same state that you do and there are no local laws that prohibit the sale. Just log everything into your bound book.

You could sell without an FFL, no?

The only difference is that you have to have the C&R firearm logged in and logged out.

And you're not supposed to sell mass quantities of C&R firearms each year.
