Question about AKs not feeding HP ammo

Have you cleaned the hell out of your chamber? I'd douse it in solvent and chuck an old .45 brush in a low speed drill, and give it a minute or so of scrubbing, and then wipe it. If you STILL have problems, you've eliminated all but feeding angle.

I Had The Same Issue

Hey- I just hoped that maybe I could alleviate your issue for you.

I bought an AK from a gun show that would do the same thing, but with ANY ammo. And not always every time.

I read some forums saying just take a Dremel (sp?) to the feed ramp and you will be good to go. I tried it. Nothing.

I took it to a gun smith, and he said that whoever bent the receiver didn't bend it to the right specs. This could be the case. He welded some extra metal to the bottom of my bolt and machined it down to make sure they grab the round and slam it home.

But yes, it should eat anything. If you can get it looked at by a knowledgeable smith, I would try. Or send it back.

Send it to Century. They should take care of it.

That said, it may be worth checking out the guide. In the conversion of my Saiga, I found that it had the occasional problem with HP rounds, just smacking into the feed ramp and not having the curve to force themselves up. So I nudged the first round against it, made a mark, removed that round, and did the same with the second--so I had marks from each side of the stack. Then used a half-round file to ramp it down.

Fed flawlessly since.

Truth be told, if that's the problem, it's an easy fix. Knowing Century, it could be that the mag well is weird or the receiver is out of spec. Send it to them to fix.

Return it to Century before you do any Dremeling or other modifications to it!

(The angle in that last picture of yours looks way off to me. Let Century work it out.)
