I have some Remington Bore cleaner that I've used for cleaning my rifle and handgun several times. It always came out onto the patch a med-light yellow color. Well, tonight I was cleaning the rifle and went to put the bore cleaner on the patch and some squiggles of grey, gritty looking stuff came out interspersed in the yellow liquid. Confused, I threw that patch out, and shook the bottle. It was then that I noticed that there was something rattling around in there, like one of those BBs in paint cans or nail polish to help mix it. I had never ever shook it before using (don't think it says to). So, anyway, after shaking, I put some more on a new patch and it came out all grey and gritty.

I didn't use it.

Is it supposed to be grey??? Since I never shake it before using it, I don't know if this is supposed to have happened or if it has gone bad or something- I may well have left it in a cold car overnight if that helps.

Any advice here? If you tell me it's usually supposed to be grey, great. If not, :uhoh:

Thanks!

shake it up and it comes out gray. I use it for my Black Powder rifle.
Im sure its the same stuff you have and it is designed to clean in line black powder guns. At least that is my understanding from the gun shop.

If you're talking about the white plastic bottle with a green label (sorry I don't have the bottle available right now) for cleaning lead & copper then I think you should re-read the instructions. It does have a mixing ball inside and it should come out dark grey with a graphite looking substance mixed in.

Mine says: Shake well before using. ;)

ok, I figured out my problem; I don't read anything that comes before step 1, and the "shake well" comes before step one.

IMHO, STEP ONE SHOULD BE "SHAKE WELL."

Problem solved. I fail reading comprehension.
