question about ghost ring sight installation

To install a set of ghost rings sights on a shotgun (and I've heard of using silver solder), would the gun typically need to be refinished afterwards?

Depends on the model of sights, IMHO. I think the Scatter Gun Tech GR front sight uses epoxy to attach.

Which brand were you looking to gget?

I was thinking about the set that Wilson uses, I think they're called Trak Locks.

...and if the epoxy in the included tube is all dried up, Acraglas makes a good substitute. Don't ask me how I know this.

Billmanweh, the Scatter Gun and Wilson sights are one and the same. The front sight glues on and the rear sight is screwed down.

I've had a set of those with no issues. You may want to look at the MMC sights. One, they are local to you and, two, they seem to be a bit more durable that the Wilson offerings.

Probably not much difference though.

Here is a link to another forum discussing mounting the Wilson system. They recommend pinning the front sight in addition to the epoxy.
