I hope this isn't a stupid question. Supposing you have an older double rifle in an old elephant caliber - something like a .450 #2 Nitro Express, which was originally loaded with sticks of cordite.
How would one go about working up a load that had sufficient powder volume to prevent hang-fires, but remained on the low end of the pressure scale?
Is it possible? What are the options, if any?
