Question about primer pockets...

On my current batch of 8x 60S RWS brass I am noticing that about every 4th or fifth piece has the primer pushed back partially. Almost like its bulged.

The other brass does not show any signs what so ever of pressure etc. Every cartridge is loaded with a 196 grain FMJ and 41.5 grains of Tubal 5000 with CCI LR primers.

I am suspecting loose primer pockets. The cases have been loaded 5-6 times with full re-size each time.

So the question is do I toss just the ones with the loose primer pockets or the entire batch?

Do the cases in question prime easily or do they feel normal?(some resistance) I have no idea the pressure that your load is working at as I am not familiar with that powder.

NC.. a couple seem to prime with less force required.

Pressures are very mild, since the max load is 47.5 and min 40 with this powder. And I am at 41.5

Afy,

Low pressure will cause primers to "back out" of the primer pocket. Try bumping up your charge weight and I believe your problem will go away.

USSR has it. With low pressures the case grips the chamber walls and isn't slamed back against the bolt face which reseats the primer.
