Forgive me if this is the wrong forum but a friend and I were debating over whether the Presidential Security Detail of the US Secret Service could beat the special operations groups like Delta, SEALs, and SAS with their handguns in a practical shooting competition. I wanted to know if they had ever competed against each other or whether anyone knew where I could find information on the marksmanship and shooting requirements for the US Secret Service guys protecting the president. I don't need anything confidential or anything obviously but if such information has been made public I'd like to see it.

I'm not sure, but Santa Claus definitely would beat up the Tooth Fairy. His tactical belly is perfect for big gun CCW and let's face it the TF is a pansy.

Right now the Federal Air Marshals have the highest minimum qualification standards in the fed system. When the program increased after 9/11 most of the F.A.M. training staff came from Delta and the SEALs working for SAIC as contract employees. Learning how to throw your body in front of a bullet doesn't mean you could out shoot a military spec ops operator.

As a pure one on one fight I would put my money on the military guys, but in a civilian police posistion the rules change, so its apples to oranges. Kinda like saying the best IDPA and IPSC shooters would beat the spec ops guys in a fight... two different schools of thought and training for different jobs.

For pure target shooting, there will always be gifted shooters on both teams that have thrown thousands of rounds downrange because they want to practice and be the best.
