I bought these two double rifles NIB a few years ago and put them away unfired:

Remington SPR22 - Double Barrel SxS Rifle - 45/70 Government - 23.5” Barrel - Walnut/Blued
&
Baikal MP-221 - Double Barrel SxS Rifle - 30-06 Springfield - 23.5” Barrel -Walnut/Blued

My question is: Do these double rifles have any real value today?

Thank you

The auction sites seem to put a value of approx $800 on the Baikal MP-221. I didn't find much on the Remington

No real value but you have missed out on a lot of fun! I like mine in 45/70 a lot.

It's a decent cheap double to mess around with, mine have been fun...

BTW, they are the SAME gun, one just has Remington stamped on it. Rem. no longer sells them and I think obummer has banned the other, so if you want one, buy it you see it.

I'd be seriously

concerned about shooting anything coming out of Russia in a large caliber.

I'd gladly be willing to bet that the Russians make far more weapons that dont malfunction than the US does every year....

I have one of the Russian doubles that I installed 45/70 inserts in. Hard to regulate the barrels. I installed sites from Rem 742,it's now about a 50 yd gun. With inserts it's kind of heavy. One barrel shoots to point of aim,the other about 6 ins to the right but low @ 50yds.
Really nothing to brag about but a lot of fun.

So..... other than a case of "those commies can't possibly make good guns"......do you have any basis whatsoever for the statement made?

At the beginning of WWII many were of the opinion that the Japanese produced inferior small arms. Well the Arisaka rifles and Nambu pistols turned out to be pretty good firearms. We always tend to downplay our enemies abilities. As to Russian firearms, many of us learned about them in a far away place a long time ago. The Russians do not produce inferior weapons. They may not look pretty but do well the things required of a firearm.

How many have sold will tell the story of the Russian double. Nuff said.

That doesn't answer my question. Do you have any proof whatsoever that these rifles are in any way dangerous? Again, other than vague references to sales figures, do you have any TANGIBLE PROOF that these guns are dangerous or should be avoided because of safety concerns? Rumors and innuendo are fun, but if we are discussing the safety of a rifle and iits inherent dangers, specifics would be great to have.

Actually, a LOT of them were sold, just hang around some of the DR forums and you will find out that they have a reputation of being a fairly strong and reliable DR. Yes, they are rather crude by DR standards, but they are a good shooter at an inexpensive DR price...

Thanks for the info DM. Like I thought, Garrabo must be questioning the safety of these rifles based wholly on speculation rather than fact, as I can find no information stating these rifles are the least bit unsafe.
