Question about the discontinued Glock RTF2

I hate the RTF2 frame design. It eats shirts, car consoles, seat belts, and the webbing of hands like a snickers bar.

I haven't noticed that either.

Then again, I've carried a 1911 with aggressive grips and checkering everywhere, so maybe I just haven't noticed any additional clothing wear. Definitely haven't noticed anything remotely uncomfortable or too rough on the webbing of my paws, though. I only carry all day when I'm off and after work IWB. I'm not allowed to carry at work. Maybe an additional 8 hours would do it to my clothes?

How often do you guys carry?? Within a month it looked as if someone had been rubbing 150 grit sandpaper on everything that came in contact with them. I'll see if I can get some pics up.

I work Monday through Friday...8 to 5. I can't carry at work. Other than that, I'm carrying until I go to bed most days.

Like I said, my 1911's have always caused some wear so maybe I'm just accustomed to it? I have noticed that the rtf2 likes to grab certain fabrics other than others. Some of my polo's are fine. Other polo's stick to it like glue.

It would cause wear to my console (leather). However, my other weapons do, too. I have a holster rigged in there for when I'm riding and I don't want to sit on it.

I love my RTF2 G19. When I heard they were going to stop making them I rushed out to order one. For some reason I love the fish gille slide serations, and the grip is great too. It is one that I will never get rid of.

but will this version of a Glock be the laughing stock of Glocks years down the road? Is this RTF2 to Glock like the 4 cylinder Mustang II was to Ford in the 70s?

Yes, people will sneer at you as you walk around at the range and when you go to shoot they will burst out with laughter. ;)

I think you are thinking too hard about this. Your discontinued gun will be more positively unique, not an outcast. Cheer up.

I still don't see how it can hurt your hands unless you frequently use your wife's hand lotion :neener:

The wife is looking over my shoulder as I am reading this. She said my RTF2 doesn't even hurt her hands and she is stay at home mom! So there is her point of view about everyone pissing about it makes there hands hurt.:D

The RTF2 Glocks with the "shark gills" are the best ones ever put out IMO. The aggressive texture and the deep sharp serrations are the best out there if your intention is the best available command over the firearm...
Seems a lot of guys weren't fans of how they looked (which is ironic considering we're talking about Glocks) and since their "gills" are more expensive for Glock to machine, limiting their production for LEO makes sense for their bottom line, but function-wise and design-wise it's the best model they've offered as far as making the platform sharper.
My G17RTF2 is the only gun I've ever had that is actually better than a regular G17.

I've heard that from many people (glock fans) who noticed my glock at the range. Some loved it, some hated it. I find it kind of funny that the same people who hate the "look" of the fish gills also preach about how it doesn't matter what a glock looks like since it's all about form over function.

To me, the gills do grasp better than previous models. I personally don't care too much, it isn't that much better. I bought one and I like it, that's what counts. Besides, if glock were that interested in getting the cocking serrations to feel proper...they'd pick up any of the 1911's out there. :neener: Leave out the big gaps and bring those ridges closer together in the standard configuration and it'd be awesome. But that's just my opinion.

glock 19 rtf2

I just traded in my S&W M&P 9mm for a Glock 19 RTF2 and love the way it feels in my hand. Now I can't wait to get to the range! I understand that this model is no longer available to civilians, but I can assure you, gunshows might your best bet in order to purchase one.

I went looking for a RTF2 to use as a range / training / competition gun. It does give a very secure grip. I am not sure if I would carry on a day to day basis as I do think it "might" be a bit abrasive, but for why "I" purchased it I am happy.

It is no more "ugly" than any other Glock..

i love the looks of the rtf2 fish gills g19.....i too think its the best glock ever
