Big 5 had a sale on these and I picked up two,one in
.357 and one in .44.
I can't find any info about the Ranger in these calibers.
Even the Win. site doesn't list them.
Anyway, are these the same as the Trapper?
Can anyone help me out?
I have a Marlin 336 (.30.30) and really like it and
now wish I had bought Marlins.
Somebody please talk me out of "buyers remorse"*.:D

* No such thing with guns!

I thought the Ranger series of guns were the same actions, with a lower quality of wood?

jmm

ps. I believe Florida GunWorks has an example of the .357 you purchased. You can probably write Winchester or find one of their older catalogs (I have five or six going back to 2000) that list the gun as current production.

The Trapper has a 16 inch barrel. I believe the Ranger is a standard 20 inch carbine. Also, the older Ranger I have has a stamped rear sight and no ramp on the front, but that was fine with me.

Are you positive they're Rangers and not Trails Ends. As far as I know the Ranger is only in 30-30(mine is).The wood on my Ranger is pretty nice for the price I paid($300 brand new, tax included, doesn't seem bad for a nice lever gun).

Winchester's Web site lists the Ranger model only with a 20" barrel in caliber .30-30 - see here.

Winchester lists the following Model 94 types as being currently available in .44 Magnum and .357 Magnum: the Legacy (24" barrel), Timber Scout (.44 Magnum, but not .357), Trails End (20" barrel), Trails End Octagon (20" barrel), Trails End Octagon Case-Colored, and Trapper (16" barrel), .

Older models may have been available in your calibers, but aren't currently catalogued.
