Glock 20, Glock 30, Glock 17, Glock 17, Smith 442, Ruger SRH, CZ-75 SP-01, CZ-52, 1911.

These are handguns I have "experienced". The next big gunshow, I will be trading or sell off the two CZs and one of the Glock 17s in order to consolidate and condense my handguns. Would like a couple second opinions.

Here's my situation. I'm looking for a more versatile gun to pretty much keep on me all the time I'm not carrying my Smith 442. I carry the smith when space, time, and clothes limit me. Here in Houston, I wear alot of shorts at work and my time off. I'm a part time student and live in a small apartment that I share with my fiancee. She carries a little Walther in .40 and seems very content with it. Me I keep all but two of my handguns at my mother's house in a very expensive safe that I spent alot of money on. Either My Glock 30 or Smith. I have plenty of .38 and it's cheap enough to practice with. My main concern is that my Glock 30 is kind of fat and heavy and I find myself leaving it at home more and more. I don't feel comfortable leaving a safe here at my apt, nor a gun or two laying around. My size is 6'3" 210lbs so I think I'm big enough for a man's gun. But lately I'm really considering a Glock 23 or possibly a 32.
I want:
1.high capacity
2.power
3.range, so when I decide to take it to the range I can still practice long range handgunning for my occasional hunting trips
4.reliability
I love the Glock 30, but ammo has gotten really expensive and hard to find. Not to mention the weight of the round really adds to the gun. I like carrying at least one spare mag. Plus it's fat.

If I went and got a Glock 23 should I just buy a conversion bbl or should I buy a 32 and buy a conv. bbl. Which would be the way to go? What am I sacrificing? The .40 and .357 sig look really good on paper, good round counts, availability and pricing.

I considered a Glock 29 and buying conv bbls. But I tried that with my Glock 20 and the reliability isn't there. Maybe I should buy conv. springs also. What do you guys think.

So am I asking too much from the handgun world? Anybody face the same situation? Any other guns you might recommend? I like Glocks but am interested in the second strike capability. I know I'm opening a can of worms.

You can buy a Glock 23 or 32, and an extra bbl in the other caliber and have both. Add a Storm Lake conversion bbl for 9mm (with G19 mags) and you get 3 calibers in one pistol. I have read where guys have had trouble with the Lone Wolf conversion bbl's, so I wouldn't go there. My storm lake conversion has been flawless for over 500 rounds.

You mention hunting. Often while hunting I carry my G32 with Hornady 147Grn @1225fps. This is very close to 357 magnum power in a 13+1 capacity pistol. I used to carry smaller caliber sidearms, but then the hogs became an issue.

what about a.... SW .40/9mm Sigma?

Are they're triggers really that bad?
Can't speak for others, but I got used to the heavy trigger (SW40VE) pull after a few hundred rounds. To me, it's no worst than a revolver fired in double action. Once I got used to the pull/break, I was doing 1" to 2" groups at 25' or so.

If you're big enough to carry a 'man's gun', why are you afraid of carrying full-size? I honestly think too many magazine articles have too many of us convinced that there is this magical arbitrary size that is too big to carry, because they want you to buy the (more expensive) compact as well as the full-size.

My Sigma .40 was by far, the worst gun I have ever owned. For a LOT more reasons than just the trigger.
