I've got a question for the gun dealers. When you go to a gun show, do you generally raise or lower your prices? Just wondering whether to make a buy now or wait till his gunshow. I'm not a good haggler, I generally will buy something at the asked for price if I think it is a good deal. If I don't think it's worth it, I don't buy it. I have enough arguments in life without looking for one in a store (any store).

One question you might ask, which isn't haggling - if you're looking to buy, not trade.

"What can you do on price for a straight purchase?"

Just like in buying cars, many dealers price assuming folks want to trade. The price is raised to give the impression the buyer is getting more for his trade-in. If you're buying without trade, you should get a lower purchase price. The question isn't high pressure or haggling, and should save you a few bucks.

When I used to do gun shows (5+ years back), I was up front, and told people I didn't trade - the price was for a straight purchase only. I generally had the lowest prices of anyone at the show. The buyer got a good deal, and probably could get more for his gun selling outright to someone in the aisle than the dealers would have given him on trade-in.
