I recently purchased a Swiss K31 and have a question about the action for those that have these rifles. When I pull the bolt back slowly, the bolt rotates but then the pins or lugs don't seem to rotate far enough and quite a bit more force is needed at the transition from rotation to sliding straight back. Cycling it faster this does not happen. Do any of you see a similar sticking point at the transition mentioned when opening the bolt slowly?

sometimes more than others. rifles more than others. The bolt action must be performed firmly and clearly.

Just like you do with old lever actions.. If you do it too slowly, it doesnt work as it should.

Sounds about like my six. One thing, be sure to lube bolt with a light grease, that is what the Swiss used and it seems to work better.

Need to try that link above, too, for information on K31's. From what I have read there, the action needed to be slapped open and closed, whacking it with the heel of your hand.

Now, have you tried the other trick with it? When you slap the bolt back after firing a shot, you catch the shell as it comes down, since it basically goes straight up and then of course, down. Amaze your friends and relatives!

The Doc is out now.
