My 33 year old son lives in Portland, OR (I live in Iowa) and I want to give him a gift of a .22 rifle. I do not want there to be any expense incurred by him so I want to contact an FFL in Portland area who will do the transfer and I will pay the FFL fee up-front and ship the gun. So, who do you suggest to do this transfer? I am NOT an FFL for what that is worth. And, what is the typical going rate for FFL transfer in Portland area? My son lives on the south side of downtown but has a car so a drive out to other city areas is not a big deal. I am looking for someone who is easy to deal with and, it is hoped, not too expensive. Thanks in advance for suggestions.

NOT Shooters' Sports in St. Johns. Piss poor customer service all around. I would go through one of the Gunbroker stores (of which there are three spread out geographically across town) just so he can go into a decent store that's not a big sporting goods joint.

you might call LEED in Oregon City ask for Matt Lombard 503-656-0353, let him know John Holmaas told you to call. Not sure what Matt charges but he is a good guy and runs the OC store, home store is in Tacoma WA..where I will be today

as its a long gun, you can ship it yourself thru the USPS or any other carrier, no need to go overnight

Keith's in Gresham will do the transfer for $40. I have not used them in around six months, but that was the going rate for the previous two years.

bryskee....you are forgetting Vancouver, Washington

is not in Oregon where he lives. Has to be FFl in Oregon.

Kieth's is a good place to go through. That place is always busy and it aint cause it sucks. I have bought a few guns there and will go back again.

Thanks

to all of you. I get out to Portland usually twice yearly but I fly and taking a gun is a hassle..otherwise I could meet up with someone to shoot. I lived in Portland for 7 years and really like the area.....except, of course, the crappy rain all winter.
