thanks so far. I'm hoping to get it up to 30 votes by women (or for women) in the next 2 weeks.

That's just for statistical reasons.

just giving this a friendly nudge in hopes to get 30 responses.

I have more time to write my paper... so time isn't critical anymore. Technically I've graduated, but I still am writing this paper for the dean.

The random opinions of 30 women (or their well-meaning spouses/BFs) doesn't seem to have any meaningful statistical significance IMHO.

Don't you think women consider the same factors as men when it comes to size?

I'm not getting what you're trying to get at here.

Well, here's my imput...doesn't go directly with your survey...but I'm in school also so I know how it goes.

I met my wife 3 yrs ago, she had been broken up with her ex for a while, in the first 3 months: he threatened to kill me, set her car on fire, broke into her place, threatened her, and destroyed her credit. The police and fire dept. did pretty much nothing, I don't hate LE but that's the truth.

When this was going down I wanted her to learn to shoot. I'd been outta Iraq for about 6 months. I only had a 9 shot high standard .22 revolver my dad gave me for free.

I immediately bought a G30. I took her to the range with me, I was glad she had never shot before. This gave me the oppurtunity to be a good NCO. She shot the .22 and did pretty well considering it was a snubby.

Then we got more threats...I had to leave on reserve duty. I told her that she had to learn to use the .45, and she was terrified. At the indoor range there was some punk kid learning to shoot an M4 on full auto. But that didn't scare her away. I promised her a dollar for each point she scored.

The first shot was a bullseye. I couldn't believe it. At the end of the day she spent about $280 of my dollars shooting well, in about 203 boxes of ammo.

She doesn't enjoy shooting, but she enjoys winning. Females make the best students because they listen. My wife is a girl who after two days and maybe 100 rounds of 22lr later, hit a bullseye at 20 yards with a G30.

My job as a drill sergeant is to motivate. If that means burning up my gun fund so my wife can shop after the shoot, then it's worth it.

Wheelgunmom - maybe... but 30 has more than 10.... 50 has more than 30.... etc.

plus 30 is a number chosen for statistical reasons (t vs z)

and as for what I'm getting at - it's a simple matter of preferences. Revealed preferences would be better, but it's a lot more difficult to get data for.

langenc - well.... this isn't a Glock vs other than Glock thing.... it's simply a size issue. Read the first page of responses for details about that.

Tecumseh - carry gun.... my mistake if I didn't include that. But keep in mind I'm trying to NOT get things related to purse carry issues, etc. It's tough to explain without totally ruining the poll - but this is somewhat about psychological factors, as well as physical preferences.

i voted for the g23 as far as ideal size preference goes. but if it were for me to carry, i would've chosen the g27. i didn't get your purse reference, so am not sure what the gun is for.

i like compact for idpa, and subcompact for carry.

i also absolutely love glocks. after many others that i've owned and sold, they will be my only guns for the foreseeable future. that said, many women are uncomfortable with their grips. there are as many gun preferences of women as there are guns. everyone is unique.

...and whoever said that women should have revolvers is very wrong. many women don't like them, just like many men don't like them. many women carry iwb, belt, smartcarry, and ankle - not just purse.
