Question on a picture i saw?

During one of the recent 1911 picture threads i saw one pistol with no rear sight . It appeared that the slide was never milled for the rear sight. I have heard that some believe that a rear sight on a handgun is useless, but i have never seen a pistol made without a rear sight. If the person who posted the picture can shed some light on this subject i would be appreaciated. For years i have always qualified as an expert on the M-16 but only a sharpshooter in pistol. I always miss expert pistol by only a few points.

Check out the Colt New Agent - No "sights" at all, just a groove down the slide. Or check out cowboy guns, which classically had a front sight and a groove th the rear.

The Kimber Ultra RCP also has the site groove and no traditional sights. Kind of a cool pistol IMO.
