I will freely admit that this is a really bland question but for those who may be interested in this subject I will ask. I am a traditionalist to a great extent and am not interested in putting scopes on my rifles at this time. But the idea of good receiver sights or tang sights intrigues me. I am thinking of putting a tang sight on my .22 LR Henry Golden Boy lever action. I am 63 and my eyes are not quite what they used to be and I have read about the quality of peep sights over open iron sights. One thing I hesitate about though. I would really rather have a .22 WMR for this project because I want something that will do pretty well at 100 yards. However, the one 22WMR rifle I have is a cheapy, so to speak, a Stevens Favorite (modern) 30G. I hate to put a $125 sight on a $200 rifle. I also hate to buy another rifle in order to do the tang sight project. A Golden Boy would look reasonably authentic old style with a tang sight because some of the Winchester Levers of the 19th Century had tang sights. I do not hunt anymore and the shooting with this rifle would be range(bench rest and off hand) and plinking. Anyway, 'nough said. I am open to opinions. Thanks in advance for opinions. I'M 65 and I really like the 17 HMR over the 22 Mag, not sure if anyone makes a lever action, Ruger does I think.17 is really fast and flat shooting..........I use red dots or scopes on about all my firearms now.......

You could buy, IIRC, a golden boy in .22WMR, and then do your project from that. Don't quote me, but I'm pretty sure that they make a version in that calibre.

Eightball et al, yes, I thought about another Golden Boy and then realized I don't have to have an exact duplicate rifle. Henry makes a non-Golden Boy, blued and walnut lever in .22 LR and 22 mag and I could even have it in round or octagon barrel. I may do that. That is most logical. Except, now I am looking at spending at least another $300 to get the right rifle. I guess an excuse to buy another gun is not all bad. :) Moe
