Question on bidding on GB

I am north of 150 GB transactions, a bit more than half guns and the rest gun-related stuff.

I have only had three “bum” transactions; two were guns that were consigned and sold by high-volume seller shops. One gun was a “.38 Spl” that was actually a hogged out Victory .38 S&W. This gun was a “no returns” gun that required me to gave a new cylinder fitted. The second was a pristine S&W 14-3 8 3/8” with a slight barrel bulge about 1.5” from the muzzle that completely ruined accuracy. Since I fired it and then discovered the issue the consignment seller wouldn’t take it back. This cost me $275 to have it cut back to 5”.

The only other one was an extremely high volume seller (GB top 10!) who lists just about everything gun-related, but doesn’t keep most of it in stock. Instead they list, sell then find a third party or place an order for the product to be sent directly to the buyer.

Two months after paying for .32 H&R brass and nothing from the Alabama-based seller, I had to threaten complaints to GB and BBB before the clowns refunded my CC. They are still on there, still selling a ton of stuff yet racking up a fair quantity of F ratings with the same complaints.

Stay safe.

I always go through the seller's ratings, especially the reasons for any negative ratings, and if the seller responded to the rating(s). How the seller handles (or not) complaints can be illuminating.

Few ratings doesn't necessarily deter me, and in point of fact, you can often score some really good deals from sellers with few ratings because so many buyers are leery of it.
Same here. I've bought a couple or more from sellers with no ratings, and I got those at very good deals. Likewise with sellers with only a couple of ratings. I do believe the lack of ratings help bargain-hunters like myself by scaring would-be buyers off. I'm just not very afraid of a seller with no ratings. After all, every A+ seller with lots of ratings at one time sold his first item without a rating. They can pay their dues by selling me a bargain, doing a good job, and getting an A+ rating from me. ;)
