Small Rifle and Pistol primers

The material in the cups is not the same, the depth are not the same, the compound may be the same. The small rifle primer is made as is the large rifle primer to take a harder blow to set it off, and in autos to prevent slam fires. I have tried safely on my range with a vice and string and had mixed results the SKS sounded like a full auto for 10 rounds, my pistol didn't fire half the time a very reliable 9mm. I stay with the right primers, it was just an experiment as I had seen a lot of on the boards about this and I had a few in my primer feeds to use up. I use small pistols and rifles in the correct cartridges, and I can get them when ever. I use 209 in my shot shells for the load not on mishap and only one failure to fire in 30 years so I stay with what works for me. Not a scientific test but a practical that shows they are not the same. Btw the small rife, Large rifle, small pistol and large pistol in drawings so that the equivalent rifle primers and a few thousand of a inch larger than the pistol equivalent, that says something about interchanging them also.
