A question just came to me that I have no clue what the answer to could be...

as many know, I currently live in the UK, and I'm planing to be back in the US by mid next year.

But I am wondering if ther will/could be any restrictions on my getting a gun since i've been out of the US for so long...?
I vaguely remember a kalli clause from back in the times if the brady checks that required you to be in the US for a minimum of 6 months before you were allowed to own any firearm, but i'm a bit fuzzy on even that...

Anyone here know of anything on this?

Mein Gott!!!!

You are moving back to The People's Republic of California!! It will be just like moving back to England!!! :scrutiny: Long gun and pistol bans, you can only purchase guns that are on the 'APPROVED LIST", forget getting a concealed carry licence, if you use your weapon to defend your life you will no doubt be sent to prison!! Why not move back to Arizona!! It's right next door and we have much better gun laws!! Sure, you will have to establish residency here, but it's only six months (apparently, you can't get away from that), but it's an "open carry" state and we have a "shall issue" CCW law, which enables you to purchase firearms without going through the "instant background check", after you have completed a mandetory 16 hour course, passed an AZ DPS background check, and have paid your $50 fee!!!! I have not had to go through an "instant check" in 4 years!! I carry concealed all the time!! In Arizona, you can purchase and own class III weapons. (full auto) By state law, you can even carry them concealed, as long as you have the permit!! That includes suppressed weapons too!!

Give it some thought. With all the refugees from Kali moving into our fair state, we need all the voting gun owners we can get to stop these goofs from recreating the hell they left!!!

I think 90 days is a time frame but in fact more important would be, IMO - your status re citizenship or permanent residence.

If you are a national or .... have permanent residence for 90 days plus, then you should be able to go purchase and go thru NICS like anyone else. You must have a valid state D/L and maybe even (tho supposedly not mandatory) an SSN.

No D/L and - no dice!

I never said I was moving back to that funnyfarm...

Actualy I'm currently looking at I.D...

I have no DL at the moment (more trouble than its worth here), but plan to fix that as soon as I get over jet lag once I move, Have had a SSN for my entire life, and i'm UA citizen so those i'm guessing will be pluses.

I will only move to a 2a and firearm friendly state, and I will never move back to the asylum again even if they payed me...:)
(not as dumb as some may think I am)

And i'm not to fond of Arizona, to dry for me...my hometown in kalli was like the frigging ghobi and I hated it...
120+F in the shade and no sign of rain for up to 4 years or more = not the place for me...

Yeah, but it's a DRY heat!!!! :D
I've been here 34 years and I've not melted yet!! Why do you think Arizona has more swimming pools, per capata, then anywhere else in the US????? We also have a sysytem of lakes that provide more than enough "cool" during the summer. Another interesting statistic is that Artizona has the largest number of pleasure boats for a land locked state in the US!!!

Cmon!! After the first summer, it's a piece of cake!!! :D All you have to do is what I did in 1969. Spend that all important first summer in a swimming pool!!!

Couple that with the really great gun laws, it's probably the best place to be in the USA!!

Another advantage is that when California breaks off and sinks into the ocean, AZ will be beach front property!! Why do you think the US Navy own's land in Yuma AZ??? Right now, it's the Yuma Marine Air Station, but after the inevitable slide, hey, we have Yuma Naval Base!!! I can't wait!!!
