I took this Like new Leather Monte Carlo shoulder Holster to a leathersmith and Had him do some some alterations I would never use it as a Shoulder Holster mainly because I need it for my Security Job during the summer months ,I drew the Lines from another ccw holster for a template[inside the waistband] and had Him cut and sew where he cut for re inforcement I had the bottom snap removed and he added a clip for my belt to convert it to a inside the waist band Holster. There is a very strong metal support band you can see it as it wraps around the Holster under the leather that securely holds my colt 38 special and should hold my new semi automatic Bersa Firestorm 380 as well dependent on which firearm I carry..My only concern is the rear part of the holster has no rivet at the top and is open the only rivet is at the bottom but the gun will not come out unless you pull it straight back ,The gun will come out nicley at the top like any othe waistband Holster ,has anyone every altered a Holster in this manner and what should be my concerns if any?,I will post the Altered holster when its finished ,The whole Change was on $15,The guy has done leather work for 50 years so he know his business.actually there should be a lot of Firearms the holster should carry very effectively.thanks for any input [before altering] https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc7/421661_10200256062105531_2003057922_n.jpg

that securely holds my colt 38 special and should hold my new semi automatic Bersa Firestorm 380
Don't even think about it!!!!

If it holds a Colt .38 Spl revolver securely?
No way will it hold a Bersa .380 auto securely.

I'd say cut your losses, and don't try to make a silk purse out of a pigs ear.

Buy proper fitted holsters for each gun.
Or sell one gun to finance a good retention holster that is made to fit the other one.

Nobody makes a holster that will fit both guns, and be at all safe to use on a security job.

Neither safe to you, or safe to the innocent bystanders when a gun falls out and goes boom.

Pick one gun or the other gun to carry on the job!
And spend some hard earned money on a proper holster that is made to fit it.

The guy has done leather work for 50 years so he know his business.
He may know his leather work business fixing shoes, purses, & leather jackets.

But dollars to donuts he doesn't know the first thing about guns, holsters, or gun retention in a fight while some drunk guy has you upside down in a bar hug, pounding your head on the pavement!

Just have the holster part made for each gun and affix it to the same harness as needed. On something as dependent on proper fit and retention as a shoulder holster, don't take any chances.

The way I read it, the shoulder-holster harness was being cut off the shoulder-holster, and a metal belt clip added.
To make a CCW holster out of a shoulder-holster.
To carry two different types and sizes of guns.
For use in a security job.

Thats just wrong, in so many ways, right there!!

I agree here.

However, Nick Nolte was able to slip his replacement 1911 in the same shoulder holster he used for his 4" S&W N-Frame in 48 Hrs. it sure looked like a perfect fit in the movie.

For what it's worth, the Andrews Custom "Monarch" shoulder holster can be dismounted from the shoulder harness and worn on the belt.

It seems as if Tauris Holsters may have a model that allows the same function. I can't remember, though.

The Bersa was not tried I was only going on the length, the holster was I believe intended for a 38 special shoulder carry though if Thats the case perhaps it would not be a problem ,I have the serial number and will look too see for sure...

I found someone who did the same thing I was describing ,same type Mental clip which is extra strong Mine will be incased in leather and sewn into the holster itself.plus mine has the metal clasp around the Holster inside the leather which grasp the firearm more securely the Back stiches too the left it is molded and not sewn and has one rivet at the bottom .http://auctionimages.s3.amazonaws.com/58783/19163/6945718_3AW0TIF8Q.jpghttps://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/s480x480/543994_10200256842085030_1177522297_n.jpg

I was throwing a little humor in there with the 48Hrs reference, simply because it is so ridiculous to see it happen in the movie.

Seriously, rcmodel is correct. It would be extremely unlikely for a single holster to properly fit the two pistols you have.

I recommend you check out Galco for a good shoulder holster which them make two versions of. Miine is based on their jack-ass rig but the Miami Vise holsters, magazine holders etc are interchangeable. I carry two different gun with mine a Taurus PT 92 or a Springfield 1911 full size. I simply change holster and mag holder.
