One of my old co-workers lives in Austin TX. She has found herself in need of some home/personal protection, advice and training possibly.
Last week she was geting ready to walk out of the house to go to work and saw a guy looking through her back window pleasuring himself. She has a 6' high wooden privacy fence and this guy was inside that. So of course it freaked her out and she called 911. Cops came and did what they do. Fast forward a couple days and she sees this guy again at her back window in the morning again doing the same thing. Calls the cops, yada yada.
One thing negative is that she is very routine minded. Runs every morning, gets ready at sae time, goes same way to work, etc.. This guy is on to that.
She decided to leave Austin for the weekend and is back now with a friend staying with her for this week.
She has a couple big bruiser dogs so that is good however she still feels vulnerable as you can imagine.
She is interested in learning how to shoot, getting her CCW permit and buying a shotgun and pistol. I suggested to her that I may be able to find someone in Austin who can help her out with everything.
I suggested she look into CC vieo recorders along with finding a gun shop or two and asking lots of questions and getting some training. I also suggested a Mossy 500 or Remy 870 with 18" barrel in either 12 or 20 gauge. I suggested a S&W 642 since she wants a revolver and needs to be able to carry in purse and in pockets.
If any of you could be willing to help out, please let me know. Or if you know any good gun shops that won't rip her off, that would help. She is a very sweet young lady that I don't want anything to happen to. Much like a younger sister to me.
Thanks.

Thats scary !@#$ right there. If I were her I would put some carpet tack strip along the top of the fence. A couple handfuls of that may slow him down a little. Also maybe suggest she find a range that rents guns so she could find what she likes. DAO is an aqquired taste. If she ever gets up to Dallas pm me and maybe my wife can take her to the range she shoots a 642. They also have a ladies night and rent guns.

Shadow,

McBride's Gunshop is very good and centrally located. They have a large selection of guns and helpful staff.

Red's is another gunshop with two locations, each with an attached indoor range. Every Monday at Red's is Ladies Day where range time is half price and all gun rentals are FREE. She could try out a couple of guns before deicdiing what to do.

KR Training offers several good intro classes as well as home defense and personal protection focused classes.

Schaefer Training Academy also offers a beginners pistol class taught with .22s and ammo provided by Tom.

Hope this helps.

Not advocating she not get herself armed, but has she considered a private detective or some such? Looks to me like a little properly done surveillance should bag that guy pretty easily.

This hits close to home as I got a little sis myself. I would have a hard time restraining myself from such a guy. Guess it's the big brother coming out in me.

You know, sometimes you read about these things, and you understand the vigilante mindset.
