I just purchased a Taurus model 94 in 22 lr with a 5" barrel at a gun show this weekend and have some questions. I would appreciate any help. I really like it and it is a blast to shoot!

I have a FTF about 1 in every 15 shots or so. I am using Auguila ammo and have not had this problem in any other gun. There is a hammer tension adjustment, does that need adjusted?? What would be the procedure for adjustment?

There is an adjustable trigger stop, what it the purpose of this and should it be adjusted and how?

I would like to lighten the trigger a little bit, don't want a hair trigger or anything, but my Taurus 357 is considerably lighter.

Can this be converted from 22 LR to 22 magnum by simply replacing the cylinder? If so where could I get the mag cylinder?

Thanks in advance for any help. Have a good rest of the weekend!

The first questions may be better answered by someone else, but I can definitely answer no you cannot convert simply w/ new cyl.

check firing pin tracks on spent shells to determine if the hammer is striking hard enough.

a good lube job/visual inspection may cure.

good luck...keep reading, someone else here may know more Taurus secrets.(my taurus .357 has a great trigger also)

Also DON'T change springs to light'n the trigger or it may just stop shooting. Try some different brands of ammo and see if it fires better. I have a old 3" barrel 94 and had to send in to check out. Came back in less than 2week total time with new hammer and springs. 100% again. Wooopee Good practice gun for a 38 carry

I don't think I've ever had my 94 FTF. Can't remember a time anyway. The DA pull is not as smooth as my model 83. I'd try a variety of brands of ammo before I blamed the pistol.

Actually I ran 250 rounds of CCI mini mags through it today and only had one FTF, so it seems like it is ammo.

Tried 2 other types of ammo today and about 1 FTF in each cylinder, so it looks like it is not the ammo. I compared spent cases against another 22 and the dents in the primer from the taurus appear to be very far out on the edge of the case. Is this a problem with the positioning of the firing pin in the frame or a damaged firing pin? How would I tell?

Someone might have already tried to change springs in it, or modified it in some way. You might need to ship it back to Taurus to be put right.

I have a M94 5" that misfired a good deal. It too had a firing pin that was just nicking the rim of the cases. It too was ammo sensitive. Winchester seem to produce the best results. I think that was due to how the casing were constructed and primed. It still misfired at least once and often twice per cylinder load.

I sent it back to Taurus with a couple of fired casing to illustrate the problem. I took nearly two months to get it back, but they fixed it under warranty.

I would like to just replace the firing pin myself (don't want to be without the gun so long), is it difficult? Mine is the same, looks like hard enough strikes, but they are far out on the edge of the rim

I was not sure if it was the firing pin out of alignment or the cylinder, so I sent it in to be safe.

When it came back it appeared that the cylinder assembly had been replaced.

I know, eight weeks :banghead:, but a least you will have a safe and reliable revolver.
